Timber Works receives Silver for Best Partnership Scheme at WhatHouse? Awards

We are extremely proud to have won the Silver award for Best Partnership Scheme for Timber Works, its largest development to date, at the 2023 WhatHouse? Awards in November.

The awards, a celebration of the best new homes in Britain, also saw The Hill Group crowned Housebuilder of the Year 2023.

Tom Hill, Managing Director at The Hill Group, said, “We are elated to be honoured in this way at the WhatHouse? Awards and see our work through the Cambridge Investment Partnership recognised. These awards are about our teams, both at Hill and CIP, who work tirelessly to deliver high-quality, sustainable new homes and communities that we are extremely proud of.”

The judges praised the collaboration of CIP that resulted in a high-quality designed project, with extensive public consultation from the outset helping shape the Timber Works development to provide the types of homes most needed in the area.

Cllr Gerri Bird, Executive Councillor for Housing and Homelessness at Cambridge City Council, and a CIP board member, said, “We are extremely proud that Timber Works has been recognised as one of the best partnership schemes in the country. On behalf of the council, I would like to congratulate the Hill team on their award wins which is hugely deserved and demonstrates their commitment to providing everyone with a decent home to live in. “As well as delivering much needed new council homes through our partnership, we have also worked with them, through their Foundation 200 initiative, to provide three sites for SoloHaus homes, which have given local people who have been homeless or living in unstable accommodation a stepping stone home.”

Timber Works comprises 118 new council homes and 177 private sale homes, all of which are now occupied. The development features a new nursery, a landscaped central park, public art, parking for cars and bicycles, as well as a basement car park and standalone electric vehicle charging points to every house, together with ample provision for the apartments.
