Residents invited to discuss detailed proposals for Ekin Road redevelopment at two public events

Cambridge City Council is inviting local residents to see and discuss latest proposals for building 130 new homes at Ekin Road in Abbey ward, at two public sessions next week.

The first event is a drop-in on Tuesday 1 October at Barnwell Baptist Church, Howard Road between 3pm-6pm, and the second is an online event from 1pm-2pm on Wednesday 2 October.

People attending will be able to meet with the project team and ask questions about the latest proposals, as well as take part in activities to further inform plans for the Ekin Road estate before they are submitted for planning approval in 2025.

The latest proposals, which can be viewed online at https://ekinroad.co.uk, set out in more detail how Ekin Road housing estate will be redeveloped by Cambridge Investment Partnership, subject to approval, with around 130 new mixed-tenure homes, including highly-sustainable council homes.

Redevelopment of Ekin Road is part of the council’s wider programme of work across Cambridge to:

Cllr Gerri Bird, Executive Councillor for Housing, said: “I look forward to the two public events on 1-2 October when people can learn more about the very latest proposals for Ekin Road, which have been put together and refined following extensive feedback from local residents. “We know that residents may have a number of questions about the details of the redevelopment scheme when they have had a chance to see them – so I’d encourage them to take a look at the proposals, and come along to discuss them with members of the team.”
